I am looking to see if there is any suitable short-term or project work for me here, as I plan to move away after Memorial Day weekend but am in need of extra income and something to do in the meantime...
By nature I am a start-to-finish project person, who had an early career in auto body work and later in the maintenance and electronics fields. I also completed a B.A. Degree in Economics, so I am one of those rare individuals who has both white- and blue-collar backgrounds.
Resume below will give more detail. I regret I cannot provide direct email or cell phone number here, since that would result in never-ending spam messages! Please just reply through the site, and we'll go from there...
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Electronics & Electromechanical:
My lifelong hobby of electronics was also a source of income both during college and
after college, when I was unable to find work in my college field. I have principally
worked in the following three areas:
1. Amusement Games: I spent about four years troubleshooting and repairing
electronic amusement games–such as video games, electronic darts and pinball–and
was one of very few technicians who could also understand and service older relay-
2. Night Club Sound & Lighting / Professional Audio: Along with my brother, I
spent several years designing, installing and maintaining sound & lighting systems for
several night clubs. Additionally, I repaired audio mixing boards, power amplifiers,
lighting controllers, and related electronic equipment; and rebuilt motorized lighting
fixtures. I am also one of the rare technicians who is very proficient with vacuum tube
3. Industrial Electronics: I did some troubleshooting and repair of motor drives
and other electronics control devices.
Building Maintenance & related:
Also primarily related to night clubs, I have a wide range of experience doing general
building maintenance, with emphasis on doing electrical upgrades. I am familiar with 3-
Phase systems, the National Electrical Code, and can bend and install conduit and
fittings. Additionally, I have done the usual light carpentry, drywall, painting, hvac and
plumbing repairs; and I also have a very good background in landscaping.
Automotive & Metalworking:
In High School I was top student in metal shop classes, so naturally decided to begin
working in that field. I briefly worked as a machinist and welder, before settling into the
auto body repair field. I have experience in all areas, from metal straightening to
painting, with a continued interest in trim work and custom painting. I am also skilled
in automotive mechanical work; in the use of most machine tools and welding
processes; and have background in other areas ranging from metal finishing to
While the majority of my work experience is in the Blue-Collar arena, much of this work
was done on a freelance basis, so I often had administrative duties–such as planning,
scheduling, estimating, ordering parts, and dealing with customers. Right after college
I did work as a bookkeeper for a local auto body shop. I also started a graphics design
& printing venture, catering to the Amateur Radio niche market. I have always been
entrepreneurial-minded, and one who likes to see projects from start to finish.
